Our Friends' Mission Statement. . .

The mission of the Caribou Historical Society is to collect, record, publish, display and to preserve data relevant to the history of Caribou, and the Caribou area. To collect and preserve articles, specimens, ad material objects, either original items or replicas, illustrative and demonstrative of the customs, modes, and habits of former times,specifically the mid 1900's to mid-1900's, to thus perpetuate the memory of those who, by their labors and heroism, contributed to make the history of the areas mentioned.

Our Goals

The following goals are designed to achieve the mission of the Caribou Historical Society.

1. To be visible and accessible to the population who live in/or who travel through the Caribou are from away.
2. To display its holdings in an environment which is both friendly and educational.
3. To preserve data and artifacts currently held and to collect additional data and artifacts as they become available.
4. To generate income to fund special projects.
5. To create an environment that will make new members feel a part of the society.

The Caribou Historical Society established a "Friends of the Caribou Historical Society" program in 2004 designed to give recognition to those special individuals or organizations who generously support the society in its efforts to preserve the past.

A Recognition Panel lists those who have made contributions of $100 or more to the Society. The panel is located in the open area of the museum and lists contributors in the following Giving levels:
Bronze
Silver
Gold
Platinum
$100+
$500+
$1000+
$5000+
An official Thank You letter and Certificate of Appreciation, signed by the President of the board, will be awarded to those who have contributed to the "Friends of he Society" program as an acknowledgement of their gift.

Monies donated to "Friend" will be placed in a special account designated for "special purposes" and is not to be used for general operating expenses.
