Museum Opening 2025 SEASON
Welcome to the Caribou Historical Society & Whittier Museum!
Nestled in the heart of The County, we house the treasures that tell stories about Aroostook County Life in Northern Maine. Your visit to the Whittier Museum is more than just a journey through time; it's a warm welcome into our community. Our opening for the new season will be every Saturday starting mid or late April through end of October. Hours on Saturdays will be 10AM - 1PM. Closed after October and reopens in April. Our Senior Museum Docents are there to welcome you. Hope to see there! |

Our Vision
We believe the stories of our ancestors who have come to Caribou to settle in and farm the land remind us about the sacrifices and challenges met by those who have blazed a trail before us. We believe in connecting our community to our collections by reinvigorating interest in their local history through these family stories.
Our Mission
We collect, record, publish, display, and preserve data relevant to the history of Caribou, and the Caribou area; to collect and preserve articles, specimens, and material objects, either original items or authentic replicas, illustrative and demonstrative of the customs, modes, and habits of former times, specifically the mid-1800s to the mid-1900s, to thus perpetuate the memory of those who, by their labors and heroism, contributed to make the history of the area mentioned.
