We will always Remember Dennis Harris
FORMER ADMIN & CURATOR

Hand Digger Dennis Harris, Treasurer of the Caribou Historical Society, demonstrates the hand digger.
On behalf of the executive board and members, we are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Dennis R. Harris, age 72, on March 15, 2021. Dennis served as our curator and office manager for over 15 years, impressing everyone with his extensive knowledge of Caribou, Maine history and its neighboring communities. He will be greatly missed. A graduate of Washburn High School and the University of Maine at Presque Isle, he taught at Caribou High School for ten years. He also contributed to the Washburn Rotary Club, volunteered at the Salmon Brook Historical Society as a board member, and was active in the Caribou Historical Society. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Nightingale of Presque Isle; nieces Dollie Haines and Jeri Nightingale of Fort Fairfield; and their children. He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, Richard Nightingale.
